Happy Independence Day! America, you rock!
I love the 4th of July, because it's an in-your-face reminder of the freedoms we enjoy, and a celebration of our great nation and the brave people that made that freedom possible. I'm proud to be a part of the United States military family. I'm proud of what my husband does to minister to soldiers and their families, and to help them be fit to fight the enemies of freedom, keeping alive the vision of those first brave Americans who risked, and sometimes gave, everything to give birth to this nation.
Today we're headed over to a big celebration on post, with rides and activities for the kids, culminating in a huge fireworks show tonight. I hope the rain will hold off long enough.
We tried to go see Transformers last night, but the tickets for all showings were sold out. It was a bummer, especially because we hardly ever go see movies in the theater. So, we just came home and watched Rocky Balboa on DVD. I loved all the references to the previous Rocky movies, and thought it was an inspiring movie....even though I usually make it a habit to avoid watching grown men beat each other bloody.
In other news, Nic Howard has a terrific new scrapbook idea book out, and is giving away a copy on her blog! Check it out here.
Happy 4th, everyone!
